Who we are

Alice Fontier



Alice Fontier has more than five years of experience in criminal defense. Before joining us she worked as a staff attorney with the Federal Defenders of San Diego for two years and then was employed as a staff attorney at the Bronx Defenders.

Over the past five years Alice has successfully litigated numerous trials at both the state and federal level. Some of her trials have included First Degree Robbery, felony Sexual Assault, Conspiracy to Smuggle Aliens, Drug Importation, Gun Possession, and Driving While Intoxicated. Her clients have ranged in background from a sixteen-year-old accused of his first offense, to persistent violent felons.

In addition to trial work, Alice has a background in appellate writing. She has written numerous appeals and has argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the New York State Appellate Term.

At the New York University School of Law Alice focused on criminal law, participating in the Federal Defender clinic and taking several criminal law seminars. Since graduating Alice has continued to seek expertise in the field of criminal defense by attending the National Criminal Defense College's (NCDC) trials skills program, NCDC advanced cross-examination program, NCDC themes and theories program, the Institute for Criminal Defense Advocacy's Federal Criminal Defense Academy, and the Office of Defender Services Sentencing Advocacy Workshop.

Some of Alice's recent trial cases involve:
  • A man arrested inside a home charged with Burglary in the First Degree and Robbery in the First Degree facing a life sentence because of his prior criminal record.


  • A stay-at-home father of four, arrested for the first time, accused of sexually assaulting a young girl.


  • A Mexican citizen charged with Illegal Re-entry for crossing the border without documentation.


  • A man accused of Conspiracy to Smuggle Aliens and Evading a Checkpoint after fleeing from the Border Patrol.


  • A man accused of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and Driving Without a License.
Admitted in New York and California, Alice is currently representing a wide range of clients with various charges including Material Support for Terrorism, gang affiliated Robbery, and misdemeanor Forcible Touching. Alice's clients are at all stages of their cases from trial level work through Supreme Court Appellate litigation, and habeas corpus proceedings.
