Who we are
Stuart A. White
Stuart A. White practices in most areas of criminal law, focusing on sentencing and appellate advocacy.
Since joining the Law Offices of Joshua L. Dratel, P.C., Mr. White has drafted several federal filings for the District Court, the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court, including petitions for a writ of certiorari, sentencing memoranda, and motions for bail pending appeal. Mr. White is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey, the Southern District of New York, and the District of New Jersey.
Mr. White graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2007 and Stanford University in 2001 where he first actively participated in the defense of the accused. While at Stanford, he interned as an investigator for the Office of the Public Defender, in the District of Columbia, and the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Division, in Queens, New York. He participated in Santa Clara's Criminal Defense Clinic, where he interned at the Santa Clara County Office of the Public Defender, favorably disposing of many cases on the pre-trial misdemeanor calendar. Mr. White also participated in Santa Clara's Immigration Appellate Advocacy Clinic, where under his professor's supervision, he and a classmate co-authored a brief on the merits for a direct appeal to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Recent matters Mr. White has been involved in:
- A Petition for a Writ of Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court in an insider trading case;
- A Petition for a Writ of Certiorari to the U.S. Supreme Court in case involving statutory interpretation and a federal judges' sentencing discretion;
- A re-sentencing in which the district court re-sentenced the defendant from life imprisonment to 30 years' imprisonment.
